Description: Carrying out reforestation activities, creating forest nurseries on the Baikal Natural Territory (BNT) and specially protected natural areas within the boundaries of the BNT. One of the sites for the project implementation is the Volchya Pad locality in the Olkhonsky district of the Irkutsk region. For several decades there has been an unauthorized landfill and despite the fact measures for its liquidation are regularly taken, it keeps appearing. To prevent new solid waste landfills from growing on the territory that is a part of the Baikal National Park, the site requires protection and appropriate economic use. Creating a forest nursery in the Volchya Pad locality can be a way out of this situation. In November 2022, under a state contract OOO RT-NEO Irkutsk removed 9,963.7 tons of waste from the Volchya Pad locality. The Forestry Department of FGBU Zapovednoye Pribaikalye has developed a project of a forest nursery with a total area of 7 hectares, requiring the connection to a highway and power lines as well as the construction of modular buildings and utility rooms.
